How did we get here?
Backstory from Sam: After launching (and failing) my own clothing brand, I landed a role at Shopify, where I worked with hundreds of online store owners. At first, it was a selfish move I wanted to uncover how the best eCommerce businesses actually worked.
But the more I listened, the more I realised how much I enjoyed helping others succeed. My curiosity and ability to look at businesses from a bird’s-eye view let me spot patterns and opportunities others often missed.
Working at Shopify really was the dream job. Honestly, if I hadn’t decided to leave and come home from Canada, I’d probably still be there.
Back in Australia, I joined a sustainable building product company as a Business Development Manager – and over the next 18 months, we grew revenue by more than 500%. That experience gave me clarity: growth comes from asking better questions, building smarter systems, and simplifying what matters.
That’s when New Wave Digital Marketing was born – to help other businesses grow faster, work smarter, and automate the stuff that slows them down.
